Literature Text

I have to pry my eyes away from the ship and duck into my hiding spot. The ship is now destroyed. I hug my knees and quietly cry, it hit me that my father is dead . . . I don't have anyone left.

I know I wasn't close to a lot of people . . . but why does it hurt so much knowing I won't see them ever again?

Stop crying, I tell myself and shake my head. I take deep and quiet breaths until I feel completely calm, with the exception of my fear that makes me jumpy of the vermin's movement. He presses a couple buttons that makes me curious as to what he is doing and sees that he confusingly stares at the map he brings up to the screen.

He's trying to find somewhere to land? Understandable. Escape pods aren't meant to hold more than one person and it's limited on oxygen. I curse my ancestors for not thinking thoroughly on the matter. Perhaps because they assumed that there would be no danger.

A loud bang startles me enough to shrink back into my hiding spot and hold onto whatever is stable enough to hang onto as the pod spins uncontrollably. The lights in here start flashing, making me close my eyes to avoid a terrible headache. I can only handle blinking lights for so long, but flashing lights a whole day? Someone bring the medicine to calm my head . . .

If only the vermin isn't here . . . I could take the controls and steer this pod away from the small meteoroids that he's hitting. How much longer are we going to keep spinning? Come on you stupid abomination of the galaxy, figure out the controls and stop the damn pod! I'm getting REALLY dizzy and REALLY sick!

All of a sudden something feels like something is hitting us from every angle. What the ede now!? Curse my phobia! Curse it to Ede! I could have taken the controls long ago and stop all this nonsense!

After what feels like forever, the pod ceases from spinning. I lean my head back on the wall and wait for the dizziness to go away. In my dizzy drunk state, I look to the vermin again who seems to have passed out. He probably couldn't handle the strain of the attack.

I stand up and use the wall to help myself from falling over to the controls to see what he did wrong. I look out the window and notice that we have traveled farther that I thought. The remains of the ship is gone and the asteroid belt is nowhere in sight. Either we have spun quite a ways away or the pod was on autopilot. Although it would make no sense if it were on autopilot since it would have kept itself from spinning like a top.

The control stick should have work to help stop us from spinning, so why didn't it work before? I wrinkle my nose from the very smell of him as I look around and what buttons he had pressed. I roll my eyes. Of course he messed with any button without knowing what they are used for. He disabled the ability to use the control stick.

I sigh and enable the control again and undo the mistakes he did when he was in control before he stirs in his sleep. I jump away and go back to my hiding place before he wakes up.

He realizes that he can control the ship again and steers the pod around. I quietly sigh and daydream for probably a few seconds before something catches his attention. "My God, it's beautiful . . ." he says.

He starts to move around even more, a little more in a panic now and I hear him hit his fist against something, which makes the pod move at a faster pace than it already was. The temperature of the pod starts to rise and flames start to flicker around the pod. What is he doing?

I stand up to take a better look at what's going on and he starts screaming at something we're going straight towards. "What in Garkla's . . ." I stop myself from saying anymore. I CAN'T believe I said something out loud!

The boy turns to me, finally taking notice that I'm in the pod. For a moment he stares at me in confusion before his eyes widen as if he recognizes me. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!" he screams, which startles the living daylights out of me and do just the same.

Everything becomes heavier and the afterburner feels as if it's going faster, making me stumble forward and crash into the vermin boy to the control board. The gravity is too heavy, I can't seem to push myself off him.

I'm too panicked to look at the planet we're about to crash into and the vermin boy isn't doing a damn thing to stop this pod. "What in the world are you doing, vermin!?" I yell. We can't push off or move, so I have no choice but to wrap my arms around him and start doing all the work myself.

Oh Garkla! Too much vermin contact! Too much vermin contact! My hands are close to his butt! Gross! I feel my way around the buttons, feeling the insignia of what they do on the tops of them and type until the brakes violently stop us and throw us around the pod. The back of my head slams into the ceiling and dizzily looked around.

My eyes go to the energy bar and oxygen bar. Both dangerously low. Especially the energy bar. I blink once and then the last bit of power disappears from the bar. The pod starts to fall again. Shit! Shit! The only comfortable place to land on is the chair and the boy is thinking the same as I am.

"Back off vermin! Higher class first!" I hiss. But he won't budge and keeps fighting me. Once the pod hits the ground, the pod bursts open and launches us out. I hit my head against something hard and tall that completely blurs my vision. My body stings everywhere from my landing and dizzily look around me. I stumble up before falling forward and catch myself onto something tall. It feels jagged and greenery grows from the top.

My eyes search the surrounding, only seeing green and brown everywhere. Something warm runs down my face and I wipe my forehead to see black. My blood . . . I must have taken a hit harder than I thought . . .

Within seconds, I black out and collapse.

Ha ha ha, yup, having that stuff narrated from Nym's POV is definitely more fun than from Sirus...I mean HE was just scared out of his mind of the incoming impact...and SHE's actually worried about her phobia XD

Though...I have to say there are a few mistakes here and there.
The most grievous one: She CAN'T hear any explosions. There's no sound in space, because sound travels by making the molecules around the source vibrate...mostly 'air' molecules. In a vacuum there's a minor bit of a shortage of those :P

Also, you confused the time a number of times...this story is written in present tense, past tense is only applicable, when 'remembering' something or 'explaining' something. (to another character)

Also...she hit her head hard, forcing her to loose consciousness...but her body still stings and she can look around...may I suggest that it 'causes her sight to blur'?

But all in all, really nice :)
